Breaking News: Rumor Says Clayton Out as "Only" Manager?

(Morristown,NJ)- A source close to The Morristown 1776 AFC's board of Directors claims discussions have been held regarding Clayton as the manager of the club.

The source claims the club is considering instituting a "Selection Committee" in favor of a single gaffer, similar to a common pre-World War II Football League method by many Clubs squad selection in England (Most Notably: Newcastle United 1892-1930 , Also: Burnley FC 1882-1894, 1935-1945, , Manchester City various periods, And Numerous other high and lower division clubs).

According to the source this would not strip Clayton of his power but rather make official the current unwritten rules the club has been following for game day squad selection and tactics choice.

In the short history of The 1776, on-field performance has failed to meet expectations and many supporters have placed the blame on lack of stability of the managerial and captain positions.

Clayton is currently the longest tenured manager in club history, holding the position since Ryan Vinton's resignation in March 2009, a tenure which has included a very disappointing grand total of zero victories.

According to the rumor; The Board of Directors is said to be holding a meeting on the subject sometime later today.
