Press Release: Club to Start Youth Program in Fall

The Morristown 1776 Association Football Club is proud to announce the launch of The Continental Youth, youth soccer program. The club will field two clubs for the fall 2008 season, a under-12 and under-14 boys teams.

Ramiro: Cristao to Coach the Continentals

4 days till The Morristown 1776 AFC take the pitch for their first practice for the upcoming season and this time for the first in their history they will take it with a manager, as I first reported back in January, Claudio Cristao.

Cristao comes to the club after playing and coaching in Angola during his younger days. It seems he will bring many things to the club that it lacked last season among them discipline. The Continentals were at times disorganized last season lacking strategy ,cohesion and a game plan. When asked about this Cristao said, "I have no problem getting in a players face and calling him a jackass, that's just not something i'll take on this team." When pressed on the the English style game of playing back and sending long balls to the forwards that the club favored last season he said "Most likely we'll play more short passes, be more technical and bring it to the opponets first. In war the best defensive stragety is offensive."

Press Release: Club names Cristao Manager

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Morristown 1776 Association Football Club announced Claudio Cristao as their new manager (head coach) today. Claudio joins the club after years of experience with the Angolan Federation.

"Since our search began, Claudio was at the top of our list," said club chairman Ryan Vinton. "When Ryan (Deighan, club president) and I sat down with Mr. Cristao it was clear our visions for the club were on the same page, he outlined the same philosophical values of soccer and building a team that we also strive to follow."

"It is a honor and privilage to lead this club," said Cristao. "The 1776 are an organization that is moving in the right direction, I look forward to building them into a winner."

Practice Time Change

Lads, relace your boots and get ready to get back on the pitch.

The previous announced Saturday practice time will be changed from 5pm to 3pm in the interm to better allow for the current sunlight.

Again Men's First Team practice will start on Sat. March 8th at 3pm at Thomas Jefferson School and continue every Saturday after until the start of the MCSSA season in late May.

Location: Enter the street level field, we set up on the far left hand side, on the baseball field.

Field Type: Turf field, cleats/turf shoes/Indoor shoes are all OK

Organizer: Oscar Gil ( I bring a game Ball, Cones and Pennies.)

Attendees: All are welcome, but once we start a game, it's hard to stop and re-organize. Please try to show up early. We normally play 8v8 with no goalie, 4ft goals. The times we've had more than 16ppl we have played three teams. Rotating at one goal or 7 minutes whichever comes first.
