Two matches into the 2011 MCSSA campaign and a grand total of 0 goals scored for Manager Hyndman's Continentals. As a lot of positives can be taken away from yesterday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Winter Rovers of Bergen, but at the end of the day putting the ball in the back of the net has to be a priority for Morristown.
The Keeping, Defense and Midfield play was much improved in Mondays loss, but this isn't the first time the Continentals have played the Rovers tight, remarkably the lads always seem to make a contest out of the old derby match, the kids seem to know how to get up for a big game.
Consistency seems to be the thing that has always been missing from the 1776 arsenal. When they play with heart and passion they play competive and once in a while actually win a match.
Gone are the days of looking to Correa, Taylor, Chase or Luthi for every Continental attack, but the lads are now starting to look like a real team and seem to have the fewest weak spots and deepest roster in the clubs short and rather forgettable on field history.
Sure the midfield build up must improve, forwards must make better and smarter runs, the confidence to drop the ball to the D and let them switch fields has never existed here, and possession could be much better. But positive signs are showing thru in Hyndman's camp and his boys have 11 league matches left to show what some think will be the best form in Continental history, but to avoid another false start in on-field improvement and failed expectations they just gotta put the ball in the net, as a team this time not one man runs.

Continentals Season In Full Swing
The Morristown 1776 AFC is back in full swing in another MCSSA campaign. The club fell last night to old rivals Winter Rovers in a match played in Irvington 2-0.
10th and 88th minute strikes from the speedy Rovers did in the Continentals and new keeper Jones, but the Sixers D held strong throughout the contest.

1776 Making Waves in Free Agency
The Morristown 1776 AFC has announced the 11th-hour signings of four new players, the return of a Continental veteran, and the appointment of a caretaker manager.
On the eve of the 2011 season opening day, the Board of Directors made a swoop to strengthen the squad via free agency. Joining the team are MCSSA veterans Chris Quinn and Jonathan Roman. Roman played for several years in the league before his team disbanded and he took a personal hiatus. However, he looks to return to the hallowed grounds of the MCSSA donning the maroon and white.
Quinn, from the now-defunct Ballyowen FC, was a last-minute addition on the eve of the season, as his former side was forced to withdraw from the league. A Morristown resident, Quinn is eager to suit up and represent his home side on and off the pitch.
The club also proudly announces the acquisition of the Wicks brothers, Matthias and Jacob. This young attacking duo from Washington was brought to the attention of the board by squad member Rob Linepensel, and the club hopes the youth and creativity will add to an attack sorely lacking in depth.
Original Continental Juan Erazo is rumored to return to the fold once again, though there has been no official word from the Board. Erazo brings a thundering shot and aerial presence when he's on the pitch, as well as a penchant for discipline. Erazo has seen Red more times than any other player in club history, and only has a handful of appearances since the inaugural season.
The Club also announced that former player and last year's interim manager Aaron Hyndman has been re-signed to work in a Caretaker role. Hyndman hopes to add guidance and make tactical suggestions and substitutions from the sidelines, as Player-Managers Russ Bauer, Ryan Vinton, and Dan Clayton are all anticipated to spend much of their time on the pitch.
"It gets difficult to keep track of who needs to get on the field, who should come off, who's playing where and so forth, when you're out there," said Bauer. "Even when I'm subbed out, it's hard to keep track of the changes. My brain is stuck in player mode. I thought that Aaron brought some nice input last season, and we had a run of good form when he was controlling from the sidelines. The results weren't there, but we were certainly playing better."
The Continentals are set to begin their season tonight at 9:00 PM as they face Pompton Lakes FC, last year's opening opponent.

With coaching and field issues, the squad loos to rebound from a painful 1-10 season. Back are almost the same exact squad with veterans like Vinton, Bauer, Clayton, and Daire. Dan Starr looks to improve from his rookie season. With more time playing, this Veteran squad looks to move up the table, and with a 13 team table, playoff chances look slim. Only time will tell.

Vegas Sets Continentals As Favorites To Win YLS
(Cedar Knolls,NJ)- Yes April Fool's Day still sits almost a month away, so no this is no kind of prank.
Leroy's Race and Sports Book at Ellis Island in Las Vegas has the Continentals opening as 7-2 Favorites to win the Morris Center YMCA YLS Cup in an indoor campaign that begins tonight.
Ryan "Benedict Arnorld" "Randao" Deighan has his club, Balls on Fire are the second favorites with an opening line of 9-2. Leroys's is the only Sports Book currently taking action on the league. The two rivals face off tonight at 6:30pm. Continental skipper Dan Clayton might of moved the line because he allegedly maxed out his credit card to bet on the 1776.
The Continentals feature an indoor squad with a mixture of old names and new faces, the roster looks like this:

76ers to Embark on Futsal Campaign
(Cedar Knolls,NJ)- The Morristown 1776 AFC will pick up competive play next month in the Morris Center YMCA, and compete for the YSL Cup. Matches will be played Thursday nights with rotating start times between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.

Continetials face a Blizzard of Obscurity

The future of Morristown 1776 AFC is up in the air. After four years of sub-par play and only one playoff appearance, many of the team's stars have moved on. David Chase, the team's all time leading scorer abruptly left the team in mid-season last summer due to disputes with management. "darkness" Tyquan Griffin has hung up his kit for a promising Hip-Hop career, and all time appearances leader Randao' has reportedly decided to retire.
Player/Manager Dan Clayton has officially resigned the title of manager, His playing status remains uncertain. Ryan Vinton has re-assumed the Caretaker position. If the Continetials look to survive the winter, some things are needed:
- A non-playing coach
- Proven goal scorer
- Depth at Goalkeeper
- Speed in the back line
- Center Holding midfielder
The board of directors are scheduled to have meetings in the next few days, More will be revealed then, stay tuned.
